For some websites, like Yahoo Japan Auctions, a proxy service must be used in order to make a purchase. Websites like Yahoo Japan Auctions, Rakuten, etc. may not ship to certain countries, therefore a proxy service is necessary. There are a variety of proxy services available online.
A quick Google search will provide a variety of proxy options. Buyer beware and please check reviews.
- You will need to make an account first.
- You pull up the item to bid or buy.
- The proxy will prompt you to pay, and then you wait for the item to arrive to the proxy service.
- Once they receive the item, you choose a shipping method and pay to have it shipped to you.
- It’s important to note that yes, you will pay TWICE. You don’t pay for the doll twice, but the shipping from whatever service you choose has to be paid for.
For example:
- I want to buy a Middie Blythe doll.
- I make an account with Buyee and find the Middie I wanted on Yahoo Japan Auctions.
- I buy the Middie and pay the initial fee.
- The item takes 5 days to arrive to Buyee’s warehouse.
- When it arrives to Buyee, I am notified and login.
- I choose EMS and pay for the doll to be shipped.
- A few days later, the doll arrives to me.
If you’re having trouble finding an item, I highly recommend using a website like Google Translate to get the name of an item. This is not perfect, but can be a great jumping off point. For example: If you’re looking for a Blythe outfit set but can’t find much, start with Google Translate. I would recommend searching Blythe in Japanese first. This can help you find something similar. You can also do the opposite. If you find something you like but want something slightly different, copy and paste the Japanese listing name into Google Translate. This will show you how it translates and then you maybe able to use some of those words to search versus the whole exact listing name.
